The old '79 LTD has started squeaking over bumps and the like. I sprayed
silicone on the shock-rams thru the upper shock mounts (under-bonnet) and
no-go. Any ideas?

Have you checked for cracking or scaffing on your polyutherene rubber
bushings  on your front end. Also could be rear shockies, but i would be
changing some or all of your poly rubbers on front end. My old XY had the
same problem and it was damn annoying.

Hope this helps

See if you can grease the upper ball joint although I think later
models were sealed. Could also be the upper A arm pivot points, again
you could grease them but pretty sure later models were sealed.

I'm betting on the upper balljoint if its the common Falcon front end
squeaking sound.

If it *is* the usual Falcon front end squeak, then it's actually coming from
either the spring seat bushes on the top arm, or the top arm pivot bushes
themselves.

There's no easy fix I'm afraid, other than drenching the bushes in CRC.
Silicone spray can work too, but it doesn't penetrate as well as CRC does...

Its the common one allright and its very annoying. Never thought of the
ball-joints (they are sealed). Can install a nipple by prising out the plug
I read somewhere.
