Howdy,

I've just run the engine in a few weeks ago in my BA XR8 ute and
finally got the opportunity to push it a bit through some twisty
stuff. I noticed a fair amount of understeer while i was driving and
was wonder if anyone else has found this or is it just my driving?

Thanks,
crank.

Utes, having no weight to speak-of in the rear could be characterised as
understeerers,..but, usually you can power-steer your way out of many
problem corners (wink wink).

In all the utes I drove with the exception of WB Holden gutless 6 cylinder
ones, you can set them up fopr a corner by changing down a cog to keep the
throttle response up to stop weight transfer to the front,..then hugging the
centre-line,..and not backing off if you could help it.

You need to practice somewhere safe :-)

Thanks for that. The lower gear/acceleration technique definately
helps. But i didn't think that a 50kg weight difference between the
sedan and ute would make such a big difference in handling. Just have
to adjust for it then i reckon.

Thanks,
Grant.
