A mate of mine is able to get me a genuine Ford timing cover for $650 for
me, being a Ford mech. But he's unable to find the time to fit it for me.
A Ford dealership quoted me $1,600 for the whole job, parts and labour.
I went to Autopro here in Perth on the weekend for some brakes parts, and
while I was there got quoted $450 for a non-genuine new timing cover, and
$400 maximum fitting charge from a mobile mechanic. That makes $850 against
Ford's $1,600.
Any thoughts on which I should take? Since that quote, I honestly haven't
bothered thinking about getting the genuine cover, or even having Ford do it
for me.

I had to do this too, common issue with the Windsor's at 100,000k's
you can do it yourself, its not too difficult really.
I just got the genuine and had it fitted by a ford dealership, daddy payed
for it, so it was all good.
