Anyone out there have any experience in fitting the crank out of a 221 six
(3.6l) into a 250 crossflow? In theory it should give greater capacity????
What else has to be changed?
Welcome any feedback.

Nope.

It's a shorter stroked crank, so it'll give a smaller capacity.

The two engines also have different shaft and block tunnel sizes, so if you
actually wanted to use one for some strange reason, you'd have to get custom
bearing shells made.

One reason I bumped into was the 221 revs harder than the 250, a guy
I knew ran a sports sedan with a turbo 221 Xflow due to this!

Hi folks;
I have a idea, the cranks are not able to be swapped. Years
ago i swapped a crank from a 302 CID over for a 351 crank. Gpas were nearly
the same. I would get hold of a manual for both and check the specs. The
stroke is what will cause you hassles and such. I really think the swap over
is not a great idea as you would i feel lose capacity. Although, some swap
overs also need the rods and pins to do the job. Best to check out the
manuals and compare the 2 engines. I think the ford site has a good few
details on what you want to do.

Good luck

Peter
