Hi all,
I was driving around today when all of a sudden the horn in my ED
started sounding by itself, and wouldn't stop until I pulled over and
firmly wiggled the plastic horn button in the centre of the steering
wheel. Even after doing this, it would go off by itself when I went over
a hard bump, etc.
I took the horn button off and dismantled it - it appears that it
involves two metal plates, one connected to positive and one to
negative. These two plates are seperated by a layer of foam, which I'm
guessing gets compressed when you push down on the horn, allowing some
metal bumps in one plate to make contact with the other. I'm assuming
that the foam has started to disintegrate with age (it did appear a bit
fragile), and is no longer seperating the plates properly.
Can anyone confirm that what I've said above is correct (re the horn
operation anyway) - wanted to check before I go out and try and find new
foam of the appropriate thickness.
Thanks!
Cheers,
Matt

Yep, common occurrence.
Some have also mentioned it happening all by itself in the driveway at 3am.
LOL. Not fun.

That's correct. It is easy to fix. Clean off all the old foam and glue
and stick some new stuff in its place. Good as new.

Alek.
