hi i have an 99 AU falcon futura and the central locking is no longer
working when activated by the remote,  it does however work when the key is
used in the lock.

when the unlock button is pressed on the remote the front drivers door makes
3 buzzing/whiring type sounds.

any idea what the problem might be?

How old is the battery ?
darren van hees - 16 May 2005 09:29 GMT
i've had the car 2 years and battery was already in there, could be the
orginal.

i have recently bought another car and the au has been sitting for days at
a time without starting it up so i guess it could be the battery.

i will go put battery on charge and see if this makes a difference.

thanks for the idea.

the remote opens the boot no problems.

Sorry I don't know , might be time to find a good sparky .
I expect its something to do with the rx for the doors..

ok thanks anyway.  i have it booked in for wednesday already with a sparky.
ford dealer said it may be an actuator which would be approx $250 to fix.

Is it a wagon?
What you describe sounds as tho the locks are trying to close yet can't
because there is something preventing them from doing so.

I used to have difficulty closing my 98 EL tailgate, but could do with the
key.  The lock was contaminated with water from the poor sealing of the
door....the lock was dried out with rust etc.  It's a little activator I
think it's called) on each door which pushes the lock closed....check each
door to find which one is jammed.
All it needed was some oil & grease, & sealing up from the rain.

Another thought is maybe one of the doors might have dropped making the lock
difficult to close....adjust the striker plate or whatever it's called.  Or
re-set the door.

Rob

I'd say

The problem is a small plastic cog and shaft which snaps, unfortunately the
only fix is to replace the complete lock, Ford dont sell just the actuator.
hence the $250 although mine cost $280 a year ago
