Hi all im Rachael ... got a new car !! Need help ! lol

I recently got a ford falcon EF, it didn't come with a keypad smartlock, my
boyfriend put another ECU in it and a remote for the smartlock, everything's
working fine .. LOL ...

Just the car wont start. The smart lock flashes 3 times on the screen, in
groups of 4, then it flashes continually.

Is anyone familiar with this or know where I can get some more info in it,
as my boyfriend isn't really a smart lock guy :-) His a mechanic... more
into the nitty engines..

Cheers Boys.... n girls..

Smartlock consists of 5 matching components : the smartlock
control module, the electronic ignition lock assembly, the
keypads, the dash warning light ("jewel") and the boot/tailgate
release lock.  Did you fit the matching set of all of these? It
also interfaces with the EEC V engine controller, the dome lamp
(must have a good globe and fuse), the engine ignition start
system, the central locking system and the hazard lamps. Are all
these components correctly connected and working?

PS sounds like a code 3 =- wrong data received. Have you
initiated the system by putting it in the learn mode?  Should
like not. Leave off for 30 minutes then:

a) Turn off all accessories.
b) Turn ignition to run position.
c)It will flash error code three again. Leave it run position
flashing away for 30 minutes and after 30 minutes the smartlock
module will download the codes and thew arming light will go
out.
d) After the warning light has gone off turn ignition switch to
off for 60 seconds or until the warning light displays the armed
flashing mode.
e) Remove key insert key and try to start car.

If you hvae an owner's manual, it'll give you details on how to train the
remote to the smartlock controller. If not, then contact a Ford dealer.

Just out of curiosity, do you know why he changed the ECU? It's not
necessary to do so, and all that's required is for a replacement remote to
be "learned".
