hi, is the handbrake one of those pull out from the dash into your knees?

or is it one of the little ones on the centre console near the seat and
gearbox?

thanks

Ef on was the first falcon to have a proper handbrake in the centre between
the seats, unless it was fitted with a bench seat, then it had the crappy
old pull out style one.

I hate that 'proper' hand brake tag. What is your definition of proper?

excuse me, but how the hell is it a hand brake if its foot operated?

It really should be called a parking brake either way anyway.

Its all upto personal preference, to me "proper" is the hand actuated style
between the front seats.

There was nothing wrong with the original Falcon umbrella style handbrake.
It was a unique Falcon characteristic. Evrytime I purchased another  newer
model Falcon even though many things had changed and improved I knew I was
at 'home' when I grabbed the handbrake.

A lift up lever between the seats :)

The older under dash type are pretty average for a couple of reasons.
Firstly, they don't allow the average punter to put anywhere near the amount
of leverage on the brake cable as the more "conventional" level does, and
they can also be somewhat dangerous.

I had a customer who once broke his own nose when applying the handbrake on
his XD Falcon. Apparently he yanked on it hard as he always did, when the
cable snapped in "mid-yank", and he smacked himself in the conk :)

I must admit I laughed after he told me about it :)

Regards,
Noddy.
