The EF & EL would be marginally quicker than the ED, but the difference
wouldn't be anything to get excited about.

Between the EF & EL, there'd be even less, and either could be quicker than
the other on any given day....

Considering the EF brought along with it variable length intake runners, its
generally got more guts to take off with in the first place than the ED.

Plus with an EF you can say that your 1994 model car still has more power
and significantly more torque and is actually able to safely overtake at
speeds compared to a 2003 VY executive.

As I mentioned, when you compare the two side by side, there's not a lot in
it.

The EF & EL made more power than the ED, and it was also a smoother engine
thanks to it's improved crankshaft balancing, but the car also got a tad
heavier which ate into the power increase.

Still, they *are* quicker, but as I said, it's not by much...

That depends on what speed you're talking about :)

Falcons are generally pigs until they get moving compared to the shorter
geared Commy's, and while the Commy may run out of puff earlier in the ultra
high speed stakes, your average V6 Commodore can haul the mail at freeway
speeds just as well as any Falcon can.

The Falcon doesn't have any distinct advantage in this regard, and gets just
as breathless as the V6 Holden engine at much above 4500rpm...

Noddy.

The original poster mentioned manual Falcons which have a better 1st
than the auto and launch quite well :)

Yeah, they do, but they are also slightly heaver and geared a little taller
as well.

The short answer here is that at the end of the day, one is not vastly
superior against the other...

The manual is lighter and is most certainly quicker than the auto
