EA ECU

I have been working on the dashboard area of the 1989 4 speed auto EA
falcon, and after putting it back together, it won;t start.
I have checked all the connectors under the dash again, and think that they
are all back in correctly. Checked all the fuses and all are ok, checked the
power at the injectors and get the 12volt pulse when cranking. Checked the
fuel pump and get the fuel pumping for one second before the cutout
operates. Checked the fault codes and get a 11, so either I have cleared
them or there were none.  Battery voltage is ok.
However, the cranking sounds odd, like there could be a timing problem.
Hard to explain, but that is the kind of sound it is.  I will be going over
all the sensors and detectors in the next week or so, but was wondering if
there was somewhere I should look first.
Yes, I know the EA should be in the crusher, but that aside, what next?

I took the ECU out of the car and stored it for about two months. Is being
removed from the power source important?

it just has to relearn some base settings, but it should still start.
Possibly the ecu is fried, try one from a known good same model car.

Also check the ECU is earthed correctly at the footwell; the
earth screw tends to become loose with the removal of the ECU
harness and you might need to replace it with a larger screw.

Thanks for the tips. I will have a look around there.
Is there any one thing that would indicate a fried ECU, or is the only way
to put in a another one see what happens?

You could put you ecu in another car ti diagnose it.

I have found a spare ECU that a mate has in his shed.  He used to be an NRMA
serviceman and has volunteered it to the cause, so I will let you know how
it goes this weekend.
Thank you all for your advice...
