So is it possible to do a swap taking the differential out of a 88 model
EA wagon and putting it in a 90 model EA sedan?

As the others pointed out (thanks) - the mounts are different. You can swap
the centre but not the whole axle.

if your talking about the whole rear axel assembly, then no they are
different.

Correct, wagon is set up to take leaf springs and has no watts link
attachment., sedan has trailing arms mounts + watts link.
