Yesterday, I took the AUIII XLS ute for a long road trip. It has just had
its 12 month service.

Overtaking on a section of smooth asphalt road I took it up to 140+ and got
this sound like a warning buzzer, or so I thought.

I took it up to these speeds again and found that it was the steering column
humming.

The car only has 8000km on it.

I checked the tyre pressures and they were ok.

Is this an indication that I need the wheels aligned and balanced?

In country areas, it pays to have a on machine wheel balance, by this i mean
they bring the machine out to the car and do a on car balance, its slightly
dearer than a normal wheel balance, but much more accurate when checking
steering, wheels and such. Living in the country myself and driving over
dirt roads, i find it much better
