engine malfunction light

engine malfunction light has now come on for no apparent reason, all dials
on the dashboard are reading ok and car is running great has anybody any
idea why this has came on?

Check the gas cap.  If not properly closed,  the engine light will come on.
Overfilling the gas tank will also cause the light to come on.

It could be a bad oxygen sesor could be bad.

The light means there is a trouble code stored in your computer. Any dealer
or decent repair shop can read it and tell you what it means. If your car is
running well, chances are it's something minor i.e. loose gas cap.

They'll come out to the lot and plug in one of those code readers, for free.
Could be any number of things, in my case it was a $25 part, 3 minute
install.
