so my new (used) car...it's a 2000 but is new to me is turning into a
nightmare. i was soooooo excited when i first got this car...it is
totally me. its a ford focus kona edition so it's a rare color and has
a rack, truely unique. i was stoked that i had an alarm now...power
windows...power door locks...no more hubcaps falling off because i have
rims SWEET. im easily pleased i guess. im quickly learning my life
lesson though...whatever seems to good to be true, normally is. the
list of problems with this car is quickly growing larger with every
passing day. the first, my key wouldn't come out of the egnition
sometimes...but magically that works now. the second, it shuttered in
reverse like it was going to stall, but that fixed itself as well.
then, a plastic piece broke in the window system and now my window is
taped up, can't roll up or down...2oo dollars to fix. next, my brakes
started grinding every so often, and grinding HARD...great need new
rotors. what else? as if that wasn't enough. about a week ago my car
stalled at 70 mph in the fast lane, yup engine just shut off...pretty
scary. coasted over to the side of the freeway and eventually my car
decided to work again. found out it was a recalled fuel pump that was
to blame and ford fixed it for free...hooray!!!!...problems over right?
WRONG??? the other day on the way to work my car wasn't automatically
changing gears on the freeway running above 5rpms on the gage at 60
mph, soooo not normal. however when i got off, it was fine. and
now...now my check engine light decided to come on soooooooooo yah...im
just a lil' upset that my upgrade is such a DOWNGRADE! is there anyone
out there that knows anything about fords???!?!?!?!?!?!?!????

(every problem ever recorded on any Focus happened to this guy in two days,
yeah right...)
Guess your only recourse is a class-action lawsuit, right?

for one im not a GUY douchebag and did i say two days...didn't think
so. i bought the car at the end of december. GOD how rude. i come
here for help because im a 22 year old girl and i don't want to be
RAILED over by the dealership since i have to do this all on my own and
you jump down my throat. real mature.

Sorry you've learned the hard way that used cars are a crapshoot.
My first piece of advice would be to take the car to a reputable Ford dealer
and ask them to run the VIN number, and make sure all of the recall issues
have been dealt with. That shouldn't cost you anything.
The next task is to get the check engine light addressed. The car needs to
be hooked up to a diagnostic computer so the trouble codes can be
downloaded. Depending on the problem, this might or might not be
disastrously expensive to fix.
Lastly, where did you buy the car? If it was from some sort of dealer, you
may have some recourse, depending on what state you live in. If it was a
private party sale, you're pretty much out of luck.
