How and what is needed to remove the console for the stereo and ac controls.
Mine came with a cassette player and have a OEM cd player to install.
I notice the bottom has clips that probably removed and are loose so the
bottom pull out some.
Is it just clips that hold the console cover plate on?

Does the radio have two holes on each side? If so, cut two wire coat
hangers and bend to a U-shape so that the ends of the "U" fit vertically
into the two double holes. Push in and wiggle/apply pressure and you should
be able to pull out the radio. Or...you can buy a special tool that you'll
use once that does the same thing.

You need to remove the radio/player first to get at the screws also
holding the console on :( The screws are inside of the radio housing!
Instructions for removal of a radio/player
<http://www.myfordfocus.com/how-to/headunit-removal.htm>.
You need a couple of bent wire tools to remove the unit which can be
purchased very cheaply, say, 1 GBP to $2 from any motor type store or
Ebay.
To fit a unit not designed for a Ford car you may/will need a cheap
wiring adapter similar to
<http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ford-ISO-Wiring-Loom-For-Car-Radio-CD-Player-NEW_W
0QQitemZ9741197029QQcategoryZ14932QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem>
(Not needed if the replacement originates from a Ford car)
Ford radio/players are 'double height' so if fitting something smaller
blanking plates are readily available on Ebay.
I fitted a 'no name' radio/MP3 unit costing £50 GBP and needed both the
wiring adapter and blanking plate.
Note also that Ford radios have a security code that needs to be entered
if you remove and then re-apply the power. If the replacement unit is a
Ford unit do you have the security code?
(the code is obtained from the radio's serial number and can be obtained
from many crack sites - or perhaps ask here)
