I've recently bought a Zetec 1.8 1999. When the engine is warm and I
depress the cluch to change the gear, all of a sudden engine RPM goes
to 4000-5000. What could be wrong and how to fix it.

Try taking your foot off the accelerator as you depress the clutch?
