Well, not exactly dead. When I turn over the ignition, all the dash warning
lights come on but all I hear is a loud ticking. Almost a solenoid type
sound but not quite. As it is street parked it is a bugger to yank out the
battery and charge it so I thought I'd see if anyone here had any ideas?

TIA

It sounds like the battery. How old is it?

You might try removing the connections on both battery terminals and
cleaning them, then reattach.

My 2001 Focus was starting to struggle starting, and this was in the
summer (battery about 4 years old)... I noticed the green "eye" was
dark, so I took it to a local shop. The mechanic told me a cell was
dead, luckily the one with the "eye" in it, or I wouldn't have known
there was something not right with the battery...

So if you have ignition issues, and have a low/no maintenance battery
with an "eye" and it is green, it doesn't mean that another cell has not
gone south. YMMV

I am having the same problems with my 01 Ford Focus. Did any of those help
