Radion Problem - AM but no FM

Hi.

My '4000RDS' radio/cassette in my 2001 Focus (UK) will not pick up FM - I
just get 'static'.  The cassette and AM sections are fine and the
aerial/connection seem fine too..

I've seearched and found other posts which describe exactly the same
problem, but never seen a solution (other than to replace it).  Anyone know
how to fix the problem?  I can solder if radio components need replacing.

Thanks

Steve

Sounds like the FM tuner itself is knackered.

Why don't you pick up a second hand 5000 unit which must cost peanuts
these days or even a 6000 CD unit which might set you back about £50.

Yes, if I can't fix this one I'll get a second hand unit , It's a point of
principle really - I don't like to feel that there's something easy I could
have fixed but was beaten by it.

Cheers
