on occasion I hear a grinding / rubbing sound on the driver side
just for a fraction of a second

I hear it when making a left turn and there is a dip in the road

a few days ago I heard it while making a U-turn. It was the loud.
Like the tire was rubbing against something.

is it an axle or wheel bearing or strut bearing?

Sounds like worn brake discs touching the dics.
