You're lucky - my 2-yo TDCI Titanium only has the basic manual aircon. I
was quite upset and disappointed about this as I'd "traded up" from an
earlier Ghia which had dual-zone climate control, and I'd understood that
the Titanium spec was at least as good as the Ghia's.

Yep, that's the way it works on mine too. I can only assume it's because
the standard trip-computer is a typical example of a Ford cost-engineered
component that delivers the minimum capability required to get a tick in
the spec box at the lowest possible unit cost.
I've trained myself to make sense of l/100km, since I just don't get
temperatures in degF. I threw together a spreadsheet that converts
between 1/100km and mpg - the core formula is
mpg = 282.48094/(l/100km)
They key thing is, the lower the number, the better you're doing.
Driving *very* carefully, I can get 4.9l/100km, which equates to 57.65mpg.
More usually, it's 6.2l/100km, or 45.5mpg.
Average speed still shows as mph, even with the computer set to METRIC.
I don't know whether you can easily change the odo to show KM - I'd have
thought not.

Age old saying:- Don't assume....... check!
Seriously, you should always check the spec of the car you are buying if
the toys are that important to you.

Paul/All,
After just changing our car its not just the toys its the engine as well!
About 3 weeks ago we traded in our 2.0 TDCI Zetec for a 2.0 Petrol Titanium
(via the Ford Direct scheme). Our previous 2 Focii had been diesels.
Within 15 minutes I knew I'd made a mistake. The petrol engine really
lacked the mid range oomph that the diesel had.
We drove it for a couple of days and just couldn't live with it. By this
time I'd located a similar mileage/age 2.0 TDCI Titanium on the Ford Direct
website and on the third day we went back
to Ford and asked to change it under the Ford Direct. 2 weeks later we had
the new car. I had to pay an extra £1800 due to the diesel premium and
optional extras but it was well worth it.
If only we'd driven a 2.0 petrol before then I would never have opted for a
2.0 petrol for us.

Mark,
Thanks for that. Looks like I'm stuck with it. OK on the spreadsheet and
getting used to interpreting the litres/km stuff into what is good and what
isn't. I'll probably just change it to IMPERIAL when I want to look at the
stats and then back to metric.
