I own an 02 Focus sedan 62,000 runs perfectly never any problem.

I am thinking about selling it and getting an 05 Focus Wagon (all
power) with 22,000 miles (so they say).

Issue:  is the difference in interior room substantial enough to
justify the hassle of the trade?  There's always a risk involved.

It's cost neutral so money isn't a factor.

I have an 07 SES Wagon, it replaced a Taurus wagon nicely with nearly
as much room except the way the seats fold.  Much more room than
Matrix/Vibe and others, and much less cost; not very posh though, but
worth the money.

I had a 1994 Ford Escort Wagon.  It had 76 cubic feet of space in
back.  The Focus Wagons have a lot less.

I need to know the cubic feet of the Focus Sedan trunk and the cubic
feet of the Focus Wagon in order to make a decision on a factual
basis.

Anyone?

Well, according to edmunds.com;

* http://www.edmunds.com/used/1998/ford/escort/13187/specs.html
 98 Escort wagon has 30.6 cu ft of cargo space.

* http://www.edmunds.com/used/2004/ford/focus/100327686/specs.html
 2004 Focus has 35 cu ft of cargo space

* http://www.edmunds.com/used/1994/ford/escort/6971/specs.html
 Now, the wording is different for the 94 Escort, it says "Maximum Cargo
 Capacity" which I think means with the rear seat folded down.  I don't
 think the escort shrunk by 50% from 94 to 98 so I think the standard of
 how to measure changed during that time to provide a more realistic
 measure of actual space.

I test drove a number of Escorts but never bought one. I do own a Focus now
and the Focus feels larger than the Escort.

Thanks!  You've been helpful.  This confirms my desire to stay with
the Focus 02 Sedan that's been a real honey!

Thanks!

Can you figure out how many cubic feet of trunk space a Ford Focus
2002 Sedan has?  I linked over to Edmunds and all it said basically
was "good for a compact car".  I wanted numbers........... :(

You are very cleaver.  Thank you!

I have decided to stay with my sedan for many reasons.  I am making
full use of the space.  The trunk holds the dogs equipment.  The back
seat hold the booster seats for the dogs.  And the right front?  I
pile my purchases up into that seat, secure the belt and guess what?
It worked fine on Saturday. We are dealing with one person only!  A
wagon is more suited to several people.

It would kill me to see someone not treat this car with love as I
have.  So, like all my houses before me, I am keeping it!  It is
garaged and comes out on Saturdays for weekly shopping.  It's in
pristine condition!

Sedan vs. Wagon:

...with a glass-enclosed patio of 38 cubic feet, 25 more than in the
trunk of the Focus sedan and 19 more than the cargo area of the
hatchback Focus.

Escort Wagon vs. Focus Wagon

76 cubic feet vs. 73 cubic feet

I am staying with the Sedan.  I don't really need the additional space
at the risk for only one person.
