That has to be a mistake. The New Fiesta will have the 1.6 ti-vct
engine and so will the 2009 Focus (sorry, the site is in Greek).

In fact I'm definitely sure your site is wrong as the 1.8l engine was
discontinued when the Focus II was introduced :)

This engine (115 hp) is still sold here in Turkey. You can get one with this engine and 5 spd manual
only. 1.6 liter 100 hp comes with age old 4 spd auto only. I wonder when Ford will change this combo
since it hasn't changed for 10 years. I am driving one but my next car won't be a Focus unless Ford
will update this combo in near future.

I have one too. In my Focus Mk II (UK) 2005 Zetec 1.6. Ti-VCT.

I know why it's gone. They are bringing it back to the Focus (I read
somewhere) but in the meantime they're using them in the new "Verve"
Fiesta Zetec S model going on sale in November in the UK. The Fiesta
will go like a rocket with that engine in it!

I'm disappointed that it's not in the new Focus Mk II Facelift model.
It's an extremely economical engine, very low CO2 (and Road Tax) but
has the power of the 1.8 engine from the old Focus Mk I that I used to
drive (which wasn't economical at all!).

I had a 1.8 Mk1 and test drove the 1.6 VCT in the mk2 and found it very
disappointing. Needed 4000rpm on the clock before it started thinking about
going and was no where near as torquey as the 1.8 (which averaged no less
than 34mpg over the 60k I owned the car)

In the current focus, the 2.0 is the only petrol engine worth considering.
(other than the ST)

I also tested the 1.6 VCT and found it lacking. It didn't seem much
better than the Mk1 1.6 that I used to own. Perhaps the Mk2 chassis is
heavier, negating the effects of the extra 15 bhp.

I eventually bought the 2.0 TDCi and don't regret it. Bags of torque and
50+ mpg when driven sensibly (which does happen now and again).

I think numbers speak for themselves. If we're only talking about
performance the 1.6 TiVCT is between the 1.6 Mk1 and the 1.8 Mk2 (as
it should be). And the 2.0 is of course better.

1.6 Mk1:
power: 100/6000 ps/rpm
torque: 110/4000 lb/ft
top speed: 112 mph
0-62: 11.9 sec

1.8 Mk1:
power: 125/6000 ps/rpm
torque: 122/4000 lb/ft
top speed: 123 mph
0-62: 10.3 sec

1.6 Mk2:
power: 115/6000 ps/rpm
torque: 115/4000 lb/ft
top speed: 118 mph
0-62: 10.8 sec

I have a 2006 1.6Ti-VCT Ghia Focus which regularly returns 45mpg when driven
sensibly - I get 535 miles range on a full tank.
