On a US Focus that is in MPH, if you install a VSS (vehicule speed
sensor) from a focus that is in Km PH, with it fool the computer to
read in Km PH and limit the speed to about 170 MPH instead of 170 KmPH

If somebody knows ????

I doubt it. Because although your speedometer is in MPH, the car actually
understands both. This is proven by the diagnostic modes.

Are speed limiters fitted to the Focus in certain locales? I was
only aware of a rev limiter to prevent engine damamge on UK models.

If what I was told is true they definitely have a speed limiter in
addition to the rev limiter on the US models.  When I purchased a
Superchip for a 1999 Escort ZX2 (Zetec 2.0 engine) and again when I
purchased one for a 2002 Focus ZX5 (Zetec 2.0 engine) I was asked by
the guy doing the programming if I wanted both the rev limiter and the
speed limiter disabled.  I sort of remember him saying the limits set
by Ford were 105mph and 6500rpm.  I recently sold the ZX5 to my
brother and took delivery of a 2004 SVT 5 door about a month ago.
I've been told that on the SVT Ford has set the limits at something
like 150mph and 7300rpm.  At this point in time I don't think a
Superchip is in the future for this one <GRIN>.

I doubt those revs, the 2.0l Zetec should do max about 5950 revs and
short time about 6100, according to my manual.

The rev limiter might kick in a little above to protect the
engine from damage. There's no speed limiter in my 2.0l,
according to GPS, it does 209 km/h (130 mph) at about 5800 revs,
while the speedometer simply stops short before 220 km/h, but the
revs climb a little more. Speedometer always show to much.

Perhaps it's even a little faster, but I have only measured twice
with GPS, don't care, it's really fast enough and you can watch the
fuel gauge fall, while driving near Vmax...

Not sure what the rev limiter on the 2 litre is, but on the 1.8 the factory
limit is 6750rpm. (and no i havent tested it!)

Focuses sold in the USA (and probably Canada too) are electronically
limited to 108mph.  You can thank the lawyers for that...
