Ok i just bought a 98 dodge caravan se from a private seller the
passenger side window goes down if I use the controls on the driver
side door but you can still put up the window using the passenger side
control? what is wrong with it am i going to have to replace the motor
in the window or is it something more simple and easy?

You should replace the minivan with a Ford Mustang, since this is the
group you posted to.

the windows in my mustang go up and down just fine, no un-needed motors to
fail.
Now is a good time to buy a Mustang too, prices are low.

Rose.... the basic operation of power windows is pretty close from brand to
brand... As I understand your concern, the passenger window goes up and down
from the switch on the passenger door but down only from the drivers door?

Suspect either the drivers door switch or a broken wire in the pass through
from the drivers door to the A-pillar (usually a rubber bellows looking
affair at the front edge of the door).

My frosted side says the broken wire is most likely and there is a chance
there will be other wires affected but not yet completely broken.

HTH.
