a hybrid Dissed me...

So yesterday, me and my '68 302 4v Cat come up to a stop light, and next
to me is a rich liberal in his new Honda hybrid car, whose license plate
reads something like HA SUVS (he also--what a shock--had a KERRY/EDWARDS
sticker on his bumper). The guy looks over to me and gives me a look
like I'm scum for driving a gas-guzzling, polution-spewing muscle car
whose registration and insurance is hundreds of $ less per year than
his, and I can tell he thinks he's better than me because he chooses to
drop that dough on an egg-shaped POS without so much as an iota of
character or taste in design that pollutes less than my REAL car does.

So we pull out and I get ahead of the guy on a single-lane road ahead,
and I'm wishing this was 3 years ago, before the engine rebuild, when I
could have shifted into neutral, mashed down on the pedal, and buried he
and his car in a cloud of asthma-causing, poisonous blue haze that would
cause him to choke his Environmentalist lungs out. I couldn't do it, so
I contented myself with driving 10-15 MPH under the posted speed limit
(I'm sure he appreciated the safety of slow travel), while "SHUT DOWN"
blared back at him through my 8 watt stereo.

All the time I'm thinking, "Let's you and me start at the bottom of the
Grapevine and we'll see whether that whiny little hybrid of yours can
even get halfway up the grade before I'm all the way over!"

I hate politically correct cars...

Dude gave you a look & you made a bunch of assumptions & drove like an
a.shole & wishing it was earlier so you could do worse to him. Interesting.

Nah... I'm alright. Just a little pissed off at the fact that I went to jail

30mph "too fast") with me. I'm sure I woulda f.cked with the hybrid as well.
Ah well. Just found it interesting.

What did the cop cite you with? racing? Generally laws on acceleration
require something like squealling tires to be a violation.

As to your last sentance.. The only way to have police state type  powers
without throwing out the constitution is to turn law abiding citizens
into law breakers.

Not getting enough attention at home aye Vince?

I think that anyone who drives a Hybrid has to have allot of character.
Have you ever looked at the interior of one of those little Honda
thingamjiggies?
They have a verrrryyy cool setup. Easy on the environment, I am told a lot
of fun to drive and a little on the ugly side, but they are curing that.

They also get about three times the mileage that you get. According to a guy
I talked with one time they will move right on down the road.
He said his AVERAGE MPG was about 70. He one time got nearly 90 and that he
frequently ran up hwy 99 between Fresno and Sacramento at 80-90 mph.

Now why you felt so compemptious toward this guy, only you can tell.
Sure the bumper sticker, but there are signs in everyone's lawn this time of
the year spouting political slogans.
So?

However your story reminds me of a schoolyard bully. If you don't understand
it, beat up on it.
Why? Does it intimidate you in some way? You afraid of it? You having a
guilt trip over your gas guzzler that you afraid to admit?
The guy probably gave you a look because he could tell a jerk when he saw
one.
So then you drive UNDER the speed limit to antagonize the guy. Seriously...
and as stupid as he was, he actually did not take the bait? Shame on him.

You sure showed HIM didn't you!
Big bad boy in his Mustang really put him down.
Yup, you showed HIM who was the fool.

(Just in case you didn't get it the first time... YOU are the fool)

C'mon, grow up.

Kate

see, you have that backwards. You speak as though I pulled up and gave
this guy the finger when basically, it's the other way around.

So if i pulled up next to you and glared at you and you were bothered by
my rudeness--YOU'D be the one with the problem, not me????
SVTKate - 27 Sep 2004 02:01 GMT

From what I read, he lust LOOKED at you a little funny.

Hell, people glare at me all the time.... must be that ugly stick I got

Damn Vince, you shouldn't let little stuff like that get to you.
You never know, they guy could have gone road rage on you and shot holes in
you with his politically incorrect semi-auto.

you have a point. That's why i didn't glare back.
In fact  for that very reason, i have a new attitude on incidents like
this. Traditionally, being a Californian, when an altercation comes up
where words or gestures are exchanged, I'd respond in kind. A while
back, tho, a freak on a 10 speed who was operating his bike illegally
against traffic, got POed when he felt I passed him too close on my
Honda. So he turns around, starts cussing me out, and I respond, and he
gives me the finger, etc. Then--as i'm starting to pull away, thinking
the exchange is over, he suddenly speeds up and tries to pull me off the
bike, which could have caused severe injury. (I almost died 2 years ago
when the bike hit a pitbull and I went down, so I know how bad a MC
crash can be even at low speed.) At that point, it was pull over and
fight (since this was a potentially life-threatening attack, not just a
finger sign), or speed away. I can't pull over and get off the machine
before he could jump off the 10 speed and push my own bike on top of me
and start kicking me, so i wimped out (in his view, i'm sure), and kept
going, letting him declare victory.

Couldn't find a cop, but so help me I'd have placed the jerk under
citizen's arrest for battery if i could have found one. (they were too
busy looking for Mike and his friend, i guess.)

However, from that experience, i've decided to keep my mouth shut, at
least.
SVTKate - 27 Sep 2004 13:31 GMT
A long long time ago, when I was still a young Kate, I lived in Anchorage.
On my lunch break I decided to run out to a shopping center and pick
something up.
As would be expected on the return trip I was running a little late. I was
behind a guy in an El Camino at a stop light and the light turned green.
He was day dreaming so I tapped my horn to wake him up. He shot a look into
his rear view mirror and flipped me off.

Naturally, I raced up along side him to give him an evil look and his much
deserved come uppance. Somewhere along the line in those few seconds I made
a different decision. As I pulled along side him I looked at him and grinned
and said "Now??!!" He started laughing, and I started laughing and the whole
thing was over with. I really really try to do that these days whenever
possible. Make light of the situation that is. I don't always.

Hell, I am a pre-menopausal mother of three with a serious Irish heritage.
It's hard as hell because I do NOT like to take sh.t from anyone.

But on those days when I get it right, it sure keeps my stress level in
check.

Kate you are so right.  Dealing with the idiots is so easy with the right
attitude.  I used to get angry and stressed out by the aggression,
stupidity, and ignorance I'd see on the road.  But now I stay out of their
way and just laugh and wave at them.  I have a much happier stress free life
AND it can piss them off even more then getting angry at them.  When someone
is weaving in and out of traffic cutting everyone off and generally acting
like a total moron, I think to myself what a truly f.cked up life he must
have to be acting like that.  That always brings a smile to my face!  Think!
people and ye shall be saved from stress.

PS:  Driving like a raging moron only gets you to the next traffic light
first.  I love driving safely, calmly, and stress free and then catching up
to these mopes at the light.  Smiling and waving will assure a mad dash to
the NEXT light where the process can be repeated.  The idiots NEVER catch
on.

No, we hate you because you can not snag a clue with a gill net
and you THINK you are better because you erroniously THINK you are
somehow so much better for the enviroment. You are just like nickel

I've run into people who hate old cars because they've been told that old
cars pollute at unacceptable levels. The truth  is the greatest amount of
environmental harm comes from *BUILDING* the car,  not driving it. The
longer you keep the car in proper running order, the better for the
environment. The pollution from using it is trivial compared to the
steel, plastics, etc  etc that go into building it  in the first place.

You could buy a hybred, or drive your mustang for another decade or three
before the pollution equals out.

SUVS get remarkably bad mileage.  Gas prices are more a function the US
not having enough refineries than politics, by the way.  OPEC has raised
its quotas (and still cheats above them) many times.  We can't make
enough gas for ourselves, and these damned hurricanes razing Florida
haven't helped anything, either.  How did you know he was rich?  Was he
wearing nice clothes?  Maybe he has to dress well for work.  I do, and
I'm not rich.  Does a political bumper sticker really say that much?
Are Kerry and Edwards really that liberal?  No, they're not.  They're
moderates; these days, everyone has to be as moderate as possible if
they want a shot in hell at winning elections.  Maybe someone he knew
died in Iraq and he doesn't support the current president.

The guy looks over to me and gives me a look

Ok, some big and sad assumptions there.  Sounds like you've got an
inferiority or superiority complex.  You ascribe motives to him you
can't say were there.  Maybe he was having a bad day.  Maybe 68 Cougars
evoke bad memories for him.  Maybe he's an a.shole; maybe you are.

A better (and true) argument is that keeping your 68 going rather than
buy a newly manufactured car actually creates less pollution in the long
run, unless you drive the new one 1/2 million miles or something.
Coal-fired electical plants (the majority in the US) are dirty.
Manufacturing new cars is very, very energy-intensive, and creates all
sorts of byproducts, which have to be disposed of and end up somewhere
in the environment sooner or later.  And finally, diesel boats and
trucks used to deliver them are bad polluters are well.  If the US
population kept its cars longer, and didn't replace them as often, there
would be less pollution without the need for things like new California
emissions law.  As it is, we are a consumer-spending-crazed nation that
views a three-year-old car as old.  This is ridiculous, and the rest of
the world agrees.

Ok, so your grand story is that you're admittedly a bigger, more
self-righteous prick than you -assume- he is.  You label him, you
inconvenience him, and you provoke him.  What if he - now quit grabbing
your balls for a second and consider the possibility - KICKED the LIVING
sh.t out of you and laughed, or pulled a weapon and used it?  No, you
had him figured out already, didn't you?  What if he got your plates,
found your house, and destroyed your car because he was a bigger a.shole
than you were?  What if he and his friends waited in the parking lot for
you after work?  Do you really still think you're invincible?  What, are
you 17?  No, you rebuilt that motor three years ago.  I'll give you a
minimum of 19.  Your emotional age is lower yet.

I hate the antagonist a.shole driver like you.  I don't even f.cking
look at people when I'm driving, except to assess their intentions as to
where they're going.  I hate people that HAVE to LOOK at you in traffic.
You know, the guy leaning with one arm over the wheel, looking into
every car?  Is he thinking, "am I better than most people"?  I hate that
guy; pay attention to what you're doing, idiot.  Are you that guy?
If someone gives me a thumbs-up, a wave, or something else because they
like my Mustang, I wave back, nod or smile.  I do that to other people
with nice classics, and they usually do the same, if their attention is
not elsewhere.

> All the time I'm thinking, "Let's you and me start at the bottom of the

Bottom of the grapevine?  Halfway up the grade?  I also sense a lack of
smarts or education with you.  This sad little story of perceived
victory doesn't surprise me one bit.

What did you expect, everyone to go "WHOO-HOO, hell yeah, good one
pardner (hock, spit)" and slap you on the back after that sad-a.s story?

Ah, the beautiful trebuchet... such massive torque created with such
quiet grace.  Such an elegant machine with such terrible force.  I wish
I had a plot of land big enough to build one and designate a launching
range to share with friends with liquor on quiet fall evenings such as this.

I would love to wait until a week after Halloween, and get together with

like DEATH after a while, and make sickening, fleshy crunching sounds
when dropped.  MARVELLOUS!

Hell, there are endless possibilities with these things... it would be a

3t, like all of us, definitely had (has) both good and bad in him.
But there was (is) something deeply disturbed about a guy who would
post hundreds of times a month, over a period of years, to a hobby
newsgroup just to try to piss people off.  And it's not like everybody
in ramfm suddenly decided to gang up on him (although that was a
common complaint of his, along with his many, many other lies).  No,
he turned people against him one at a time.  A nice guy?  No, I don't
think so.  You're a very tolerant person, Kate, but if the term "nice
guy" has any meaning at all it can't possibly include 3t.

It's just helping natural decomposition a bit.  A couple friends of mine
in a college apt. got a three-foot-diameter pumpkin for Halloween, and
put it on the balcony of a three-story walkup.  One night after hitting
the bars, we went outside.  It had begun to rot and cave in, its
structural integrity questionable, and someone asked, "how are we gonna
get this thing outta here?"  One good shove, problem solved.  Splatting
crunch.  Shovelling its foul remains into trash cans with a 4-alarm
hangover was not any fun.

to cause the wing to aid in lift.  Otherwise, dead weight will make it drop

Well said.  What is he trying to prove with that comment, "I like to
poison my neighbors' (and my own) drinking water by being lazy?"

This one is quite the cheeky half-wit.

Bravissimo.  You took a tired old cliche and ... you damned genius,
you USED IT on me.  Everyone give WindsorFox a hand.

By the way, dumbass, your grammar sucks.

All of that sarcasm displayed in your last post and you still can't figure
out that WindsorFox's original reply was just dripping with it?

Both my grammar and my IQ will out rank yours on any day, even a
bad day, if you think my grammar is bad it is because you don't know
any better. As for the dumb a.s in this conversation, the dumb a.s is
the newb who comes in here and jumps into a thread making stupid
comments about people he does not know. You have the title of idiot
right now under your name to everyone in this group, including the
guy on the other side because you do not know WTF you are talking
about nor do you know anything about me or others here; yet insist on
making comments about the situation which do NOT apply. Even the
ultra-Lib to whom I my message was pointed new what I meant and how
to take it. Perhaps next time you will know to keep your mouth shut
and breath through your nose for awhile before you start making dumb
a.s comments about posts by people you are clueless about. Finally at
the risk of upsetting some of the real regs in this group, I will
tell you that your behavior is what is expected of a typical top
posting AOL mouth breathing fucktard...

The little fishy finally took the bait.
He's even ready to play dueling IQ tests and compare CVs!

Well, genius, you would be disappointed in yourself if you did.  You
might cry, and spend even more time seeking validation from Usenet.  You
might even get a thesaurus and a penis pump for use while posting.

I am targeting -you- for a very specific reason, and with a specific
method, but you aren't catching on.  I'm mocking you with stupid
interjections, which seem to be your forte.  It's funny, really, because
the reason is right under your nose.  I'm just going to fill each and
every thread of yours with incredible amounts of frustrating garbage
until I see the desired result.  The irony of it all is that "it's true".

Have a nice day, Big Dog.  See you tomorrow.  I have faith you'll put it
together soon enough, what with that high-powered intellect of yours.

So you're a troll.. just here to start sh.t. A lifeless, sad, pathetic
little weasel with nothing better to do. Glad we've got that established.
Now f.ck off.

He's not that good, he's a loudmothed AOL newb who was put in
his place so he's working the troll angle to lessen the embarassment  :-p

That first line should read ....

"Cost of probing Bill Clinton's PERJURY during a sexual harassment
investigation: $65 million"

You have bought into a lie.... He was not impeached for the sex act(s).

He was impeached for LYING ABOUT IT UNDER OATH!
SVTKate - 04 Oct 2004 14:14 GMT
and ALL of it cost WAY too much!

It blew up.

ALL non-citizens must prove a good reason to be here and ALL
naturalized citizens, especially of middle Eastern decent need to be
looked at. Pakistan and Iran need to be treated as ENEMIES which they
are and Saudi Arabia need to be given an ultimatum.

All very simple, now give me my $30
