They seem determined to go down the same
road as Chevrolet, that is, the introduction of cars
with no real market potential, relying on buyer
"loyalty" while offering them no real reason TO
be loyal.
The Mustang as a car and the F150 pick-up are the
only vehicles that are likely to inspire any brand
loyalty.
But look what's coming. The 500.  Why would they introduce
something like this?  A formless mish-mash of Taurus
and (I think) Crown Victoria.  It isn't 1986 anymore Ford,
you can't sell something that looks and performs like
this and expect people to really buy it.
On top of this, Ford has other problems.  Their service is
terrible, as evidenced from myriad responses by Ford owners,
they show a real disdain for pre-existing customers. The paint quality
on their cars falls below that of Hyundai, way below.  Fit and finish
on their cars is also poor compared with the Japanese.
The only hope for Ford if they can't seem to improve on these kinds
of points is to do what Chrysler has done;  Keep a few (two) key
vehicles, and start making interesting new ones.  Only
variety will keep people's minds of the quality issues Ford cannot
seem to solve.

That subject line is being echoed by Formula 1 Jaguar fans.

Normalwise, I don't reply to such non-sense but I'm kind of bored.

For the past 10 years or so, Detroit has essentially been out of the car
business. In the past couple of years the Big Three have made a concerted
effort to get back in, the products of those efforts are starting to appear.

The Chevrolet Malibu as earned critical acclaim for its excellent quality.
It is selling quite well.

The Ford Five Hundred is an all new car based on a Volvo designed platform.
The Five Hundred has earned critics praise for its quality.

The idea that they should keep a few products and focus on those is
foolishness. Anyone with any sort of business education knows that market
share is very important.

Oh, seemingly bold statements based on incomplete information and flawed
logic, intended to sparke flames.  I hope it fails.  It's not at all
worthy of what you may have intended.

Thanks S&J, you remind me I need to make one... lazy... some IT people
love to get new hardware for wireless LANs et al. at home... I hate to
mess it any of it here.  What reader do you use?  I have NS 7.0...
"create filter from message" is grayed out; the only other things are
ignore and watch thread.

I ignore idiots all the time, I just have to make a more concerted
effort to do so in Usenet, because it's just brimming with them

The usual "Virus Express 6"

I thought so.  I heard Outhouse described by a hacker as: "a security
hole masquerading as an email application".  Free is good!  NS has
always been my flavor of choice, since 1.0.  Before that was WinWeb, and
before that, the dark (but amusing) days of Gopher and BBS's.

"Wow, 2400 REALLY FLIES!!"

This guy must REALLY be wrong, in that case.  I suppose I should say thanks.

And Hell froze over in New York last week, so it's bound to happen
elsewhere.
