Hi all,
My 98 Cobra (~65k miles) recently started having engine hesitation at
low RPMS when accelerating under load. For example, 3rd gear, <1500
rpms or so, and accelerate, and the car will stutter severely, jerking
the car forward and back. Once you get over 1700 rpms or so,
everything smooths out.
I originally thought this was a gas problem, as it started after a
fill-up at an unfamiliar gas station. But it has persisted for a
couple of months now, and is even getting worse.
So, any armchair mechanics out there? Does this sound like gas, or a
sensor? Engine light is off. I'll have to take the vaseline to the
dealer with me if I can't solve this myself. :)
Thanks for any help.

Simplest things first?
did you check plug wires and spark plugs?
Coil packs?

Actually, have not. Plugs should still be good, no? I'll check them
out anyway. Is this the most common cause of something like this?

Clean the air intake and it's sensors. plugs. Sounds pretty severe.
These cars dont have much power at that rpm range but the should not
jerk. Try running some seafoam cleaner in your fuel.

You may want to clean the mass airflow sensor too. If it hasn't been done
before, it's certainly time.

Just wanted to followup on this and thank everyone who responded. The
culprit was the spark plug wires, so good suggestion Dave.
