The '67 Shelby's had a fairly stock-looking grille opening and quad
headlights. Early units had the extra headlights in the middle of the
grille; on later units they were moved to the outside, OE '69 Mustang
style. Two functional hood scoops were located in the area above the
carb. The hood had no air extractors.
.
The '68's had a huge grille opening, extending down into the front
valance and divided by the bumper. They had dual headlights. The dual
functional hood scoops were at the front of the hood. The hood had no
air extractors.
.
'69's and '70's had three forward-facing NACA ducts, and two air
extractors. One was over the carb area and fed the engine. The other
two, one on each side, merely admitted air into the engine compartment.
Air extractors were located directly in line with these two, toward
the rear of the hood.
.
This SVT GT500 has the grille opening extending into the valance and
dual headlights. It has no cold air induction; it has two air
extractors about 1/3 the way back.
.
Which is a lot of verbiage to say that the SVT car's grille is a copy
of the '68, as is the headlight treatment, and the air extractors on
the SVT's hood don't really correspond to any Shelby. The only
Shelby's with air extractors were the '69's and '70's -- both the 352
ci GT350 and the 427 ci GT500 models :-) -- and they were located well
to the rear of the ones on the SVT car.

The Unique Motorcars GT500E's are built on '67's and '68's, depending
on whatever they can scrounge up when you place your order.

Tell me something I didn't already know.

I was talking about the hood, not the grille.

Which looks more closely like the '67 with a dash of '04 Cobra thrown in,
than the '68.

Either of which I could build for 25% of what one of the rip off artists
want for a finished GT500E. And it's Sanderson Sales, not Unique Motorcars.

The blue 68 shown is a GT500KR .... which was the badest boy, so the
pic is showing the 06 Shelby taking over the "king of the road" title.
On the other hand, I might just be full of sh.t.... ;)

I was diddly bopping around on the web the other night bored out of my
skull looking at various classic car dealers websites to see what is
out there for sale in the classic arena. Came across a KR and about
chocked to death at the asking price. Really, really clean original
unmolested car, but a $135,000 grand is a big nut to swallow.

Actually, we're both wrong. It's Unique PERFORMANCE that builds the
GT500E's. Unique Motorcars is a Shelby Cobra replicar builder, and
Sanderson Sales is the "distributor" of the GT500E's, if you can use
that word for what are basically one-offs.

Yeah, I'd say they're "off" a bit. I could build one of those things for
less than $25K if I had a good base to start with.
