Hi All,

Well I bought a full exhaust system for my 85.  Flowtech headers, Off-Road H
pipe, and an American Thunder Cat-Back System from Flowmaster.  I brought it
to a mechanic lastnight so he could do the work today on it.  He started
mid-morning and will only be finished tomorrow morning.  How long should
this kinda job usually take???  Crap I am not lookin forward to that bill if
he does charge me for every hour.  I thought it would be way easier to have
a Class "A" mechanic do it.  So how long should it take?

Thanks in advance all!

I'm sure that the mechanic has other work to do... and leaves at 5-6pm.....
so it really doesn't seem all that unreasonable to me. Sounds fairly
accurate, really.

Just doing headers on these cars can be a bear, wven with a lift and
the proper tools. I can think of a number of occasions that headers on a
5.0 car took me 3-4 hours alone (DIY'er, lots of tools, no lift).
Disconnecting motor mounts and steering rag joints is not uncommon to
get the headers in (1 5/8 vs 1 3/4, equal length, etc).

So say 3 hours for headers, and 3-4 hours for the rest (guessing). Do
you want a good job, or a rush? With coffee, pee breaks, phone calls,
interruptions (from you asking when car will be done) and answering
questions from other guys in the shop, its a day.

    :)
