Of course. I guess my brain wasn't working yet today.
Being it's his car, it's his call. The Ford part is higher, but like I
mentioned, the Dorman is a good part. But once again, it's his money.
I saw on another post that somebody had gotten one from Ford for $140.
I've never seen a genuine Ford replacement intake that cheap, but if he
did, that's the route to take.

That would be me. I can dig up the receipt... I have it somewhere. It was
$140. There is a TSB for it on my 98 GT.. recall for 96-97.

I forgot to add that the Dorman also has the aluminum crossover tube.
To see a picture just do a google search under "Dorman intake
manifold". I guess it all depends if he wants to keep his Ford all Ford
or not.
