I haven't used that particular Teflon stuff but I used a different
brand that had Teflon in it.  The first time I put it on it seemed
great.  I eventually discovered that it would dull and need to be
rewaxed but the first coat was almost impossible to get off.  I had to
work like a SOB with the new application and rubbing and rubbing to
get the new stuff to dissolve the old stuff so I could buff it off
when it dried.  Plus it turned yellowish.  Wasn't noticeable till you
started taking it back off, then you could actually see the old
coating.  I've never seen another "wax" product do this.  Makes me
leery of anything that says it has Teflon in it.

I haven't used the product you mentioned but back in 96 I bought a
slightly used 95 GTS. They talked me into buying this lifetime teflon
pain protectant with the promise that if I was ever unhappy with the
shine I could bring it back and have it reapplied free.

Well I kept that car less than two years but that stuff was
incredible. I did have it reapplied right before I sold it.

I would buy that again any time. I think it cost $150, but it saved me
at least 10 wax jobs. It had a beautiful wet glossy look. The kid who
bought that car about peed his pants when he saw it.

It's time for a wax again so I figured I'd try it out... f.ck me.. that
stuff is easy to put on, but HARD to take off! Goes on extremely
easily... but fairly difficult to get back off!

I only did the front end of the car... fenders, hood, front bumper
cover. I washed the car twice... still good as new. As far as
reflectiveness... about the same as Meguiars and Mothers. I plan on
doing the rest of the car after I work up some damn energy!

hmm. I have enough Mother's polish wax (the bottle that comes with the clay
bar kit) to do the '69, but this is new paint and don't really need a
polish, just wax. I wasn't sure if I ought to go ahead and use the Mother's
or try this new Teflon stuff. hmm.

I'd REALLY rather try Zaino's, but I don't want to put out that much moolah
just for wax, especially if I end up not liking it.

Just go by some Meguiars Gold Class liquid...
easy on, easy off and ohhh baby, she sure does shine purty!
For something like $8

I tried Zaino's once. It had an amazing shine, almost like a mirror. The
only problem is it doesn't last very long. It was gone after only few
washes.

Use klasse all in one. It is a synthetic wax that is easy to apply.
for added protection add sealant glaze to it. This stuff sticks way
longer than carnauba, especially in hot climates.

I tried it today. Bad Bad Bad! The teflon had got hard.  It is just like
polish with sand in it.  Scratches the paint real bad!

BEWARE BAD WAX!!!!!

Outta no where you come into the conversation. Welcome, first of all.

Next, it's been a couple days since I put on the DuPont Teflon wax...
and I still gotta say I like it. It rained fairly hard... washed 'er
off & voila.... good as new! Shiney as can be & still slick. I like the
stuff!

And no, it didn't scratch my car. Check the APPLICATOR you used if it
scratched your car.

This is an unmoderated international forum, Mike, you can't expect to
have private conversations. That's part of the fun of Usenet, it's a
conversational free-for-all.

I would note that while there might be a problem with the applicator,
he might also have purchased a bad batch. Maybe his can of wax sat on
a loading dock in the sun somewhere and temps caused a reaction n the
product, who knows?

The point is that your good experience does not negate his bad one,
nor vice versa.

I'm thinking I'll go buy some but check it carefully before I apply
it.

The other thing is he didn't say WHICH product he was talking about. The
post he was quoting from mentioned both Klasse and the new DuPont stuff. He
didn't differentiate between the two.
