QUESTION: 1996 GT Intake Manifold

I have purchased a non-Ford "updated" intake manifold to replace the
cracked and leaking original intake on my 1996 GT.

The part is American-made and seems to be of high quality, and it only
cost a fraction of the price of the Ford part.

QUESTION: Has anyone had any experience with these updated intakes? One
thing in particular: This new intake has rubber "O-ring" style gaskets
molded into the top and bottom of the intake. Are these sufficient to
seal the intake to the rest of the engine, or do I need something else,
like Permatex or something?

Any info will be much appreciated. THANKS!

Permatex is not needed UNLESS you have some pitting of metal. (E.G. an
older engine that has pitted from years of coolant abuse) Some Permatex
or aftermarket sealers can actually attack O2 sensors or other sending
units.
The O-rings will do fine. If you are doing this replacement yourself,
have a good torque wrench, a good engine assembly/disassembly manual
and make sure you have a fuel line disconnect tool. I've seen two
different manufacturers of these intakes. Dorman is one and I can't
think of the other brand at the moment, but the Dorman is first-rate.
