 Yep, that about covers it.

>> How often, on average, do you visit RAMFM?

Pretty much daily.  Sometimes more, sometimes less.

>> How long have you been visting RAMFM?

Too long to actually remember; I think around 6 or 7 years.

>> What are your contributions to RAMFM?

A few things here and there, but I consider myself one of the groups
proud cynics.  At best, I try to contribute controversy.  Guess I'm a
troll...

>>What is your favorite memory of RAMFM?

Thunder Alley

>>What is your saddest memory of RAMFM?

This (or any) newsgroup isn't so serious that I have 'sad memories'.

>>What is your funniest memory of RAMFM?

It's a tie between some of the Thunder Alleys and dwight's foray into
alt.troll.

>>How would you improve RAMFM?

I'd love to see CJ and some guys from AHPBBFM stir it up in here more
often.

>>Should RAMFM be moderated?

Absolutely not

>>Does RAMFM rock?

Sometimes.  But the 'What color should I paint my racing stripes?'
threads are pretty lame.  Almost Martha Stewart-ish...

>>Will someone take offense at this post?

Most definitely.  And that's good.

And I'll add two more:
Q: Who are your favorite RAMFM personalities?
A: In no particular order, Michael Johnson, Patrick, dwight, Tim
(Musttanguy)

Q: Who do you miss most from RAMFM?
A: Again, in no particular order, CJ, Mike P., Steve E.

BTW, very interesting post, Patrick.

Ditto.

I keep forgetting... I think I showed up sometime in late 95 early 96.

> >> What are your contributions to RAMFM?

I just post a lot of crap... though now much of it comes in "waves" as
my time allows.  And I don't reply no where near as much as I used to
-- I have a hard time keeping up anymore-- again, because of a lack of
time.

> >>What is your favorite memory of RAMFM?

Too many to list.  I enjoyed, and could have really enjoyed, the muscle
car 1/4 mile threads.  Too bad people got stupid/offended.

> >>What is your saddest memory of RAMFM?

Whenever good people left the NG... many of which drifted away without
notice.

> >>What is your funniest memory of RAMFM?

For me, it was my "Trolling Game" post.  But there have been so many.
I guess I'd have to say reading all the funny little remarks/backhanded
remarks people post.

> >>How would you improve RAMFM?

I'd have everyone post more.

Many times I scratch my head wondering why folks can't come up with
topics to post.  It's so easy.  Just post interesting things you read
in a magazine or find on the net, trends you see on the street,
something you [just] learned in the garage, something you heard from a
buddy, maybe about a run-in you had on the street or track, or just go
off-topic.  The topics are endless.

Case in point: This week alone I probably started at least a dozen
threads, and I was able to do in between doing all my "homework" and
the work I bring home.          You multiply 12 posts times the number
of people who visit and you'd have one hopping newsgroup.

> >>Should RAMFM be moderated?

Never.  Moderated is about as much fun as reading a tech manual.  It's
interesting for as long as you can keep your eyes open.

> >>Does RAMFM rock?

Yes, when two things are happening.

1) When lots of different people are posting and adding new topics.
2) Sad to say, but it rocks whenever a troll comes by.  Not any run of
the mill troll mind you, I mean a good troll.  The last one, whatever
his name was (I can't remember now), sucked!  He was boring as hell!
On the other hand, TnT was decent, but then got boring because he got
so repetitious.  The best one to date in my eyes was the White Tornado.
He was intelligent, had a point he was trying to make, and he had a
good sense of humor.

> >>Will someone take offense at this post?

Some one taking offense, and responding intelligently, is what makes
this place great.

> And I'll add two more:
> Q: Who are your favorite RAMFM personalities?

> (Musttanguy)

Thank you!  I'm flattered.  Not saying it to just be nice or to return
the compliment, but I'd list you, Joe.  Plus, of course, dwight, 180Out
(one of the best sparring partners I ever had), SEEverist, Dan "The
Cobra with a few things, Taslo (sp?), to name just a few.

> Q: Who do you miss most from RAMFM?

Micheal Dike, White Tornado, Lyons, Anthony, CJ, the guy that had the
12 second "stock" LX (what was his name again?), Bill S... all that
brought a lot to the table and made their mark.

> BTW, very interesting post, Patrick.

Thanks, Joe.  Got any ideas for a new thread? ;-)

Not really a new thread per se, but...

Q: What's in your CD/MP3 player these days?
A: I've got the new Disturbed (10,000 Fists) and I've been digging
some Hendrix lately - Rainbow Bridge and Cry Of Love.

1.

Workdays, several times/day.  Weekends, almost never.  (Right now,
11:30 a.m. Labor Day, I'm killing time waiting for a little
rust-proofing paint to dry on the bellypan of the kids' '65 fb so I can
test fit a Fays2 Watts link brace that's one of the current projects.)

> How long have you been visting RAMFM?

1.

Since Jan '00.

>> What are your contributions to RAMFM?

3.

>>What is your favorite memory of RAMFM?

Nothing stands out.  To wax poetic, ramfm is like a river, different
water, fishies, & slimy things floating by, but it's always the same
river.

>>What is your saddest memory of RAMFM?

If you read the archives you see threads routinely racking up 50-100
posts, funny posts, serious posts, knowledgeable posts.  It was so
alive.  It was something worth having, but it's gone now.

>>What is your funniest memory of RAMFM?

That thread with the Corvette guy, LS1/Z06, who posted the link to the
photo of his speedo pegged at 180 mph and claimed it had been taken at
Daytona.  Omigod, everyone was tag teaming on him and he kept it going
for days.

>>How would you improve RAMFM?

It is what it is.

>>Should RAMFM be moderated?

See above.

>>Does RAMFM rock?

No.  Pretty dull lately.

Q: Who are your favorite RAMFM personalities?

Even though he hasn't been around in years, it's still Tungsten David.

Q: Who do you miss most from RAMFM?

Bill S. wins this one in a walk.  I don't know what the deal is/was
with him.  I mean, Google made for-profit use of his posts from day
one, but some nobody comes along and reposts ramfm on his itty-bitty
web site, and Bill S. is out of here.  Now the same thing has happened
to ahpbbfm, yet he still posts there.  The guy has his faults, but he
knows so much and he was so generous with that knowledge.  His exit was
the single worst thing ever to happen to this NG.

Perhaps you should have given a second thought to antagonizing him
and others day after day after day in oh-so-many threads. When are you
going to see that your incessant quest for knowledge is worth nothing
if you attack the people you could learn from? The dividing line
between King of the Mountain and Fool on the Hill is almost invisible.

The obsidian ophidian lives!  I thought you'd passed out once too often
for too long and that smelly herd of cats had made a meal of you.
(They're watching you, you know. Every day, they're watching. . . .)

As for Bill S., I'll bet it comes as news to him that I had something
to do with his departure from this NG.  It sure does to me.

As for the rest, not even worth replying to.  False premises and false
logic.  Does this kind of drivel make feel profound?  "The dividing
line between King of the Mountain and Fool on the Hill"?  The
embarassment gene is as inactive as ever.

Immaturity on the Usenet?  Omigod, call the cops.  Call FEMA.  Call the
Guard.  Limp Rick has detected immaturity on the Usenet!!!

Look Limpie, buy a dictionary, look up the word "hypocrite," and find
one part of that Shelby thread that makes me a hypocrite for what I
wrote about Bill S. in this thread.

Yeah, I stand here scratching my head wondering wtf you're talking
about. Better slither back under that rock, Limp One, where it's nice
and safe.  And look up "literally" while you're there.  As I've written
many times before, it's embarassing when a lazy-minded leech like
yourself tries to use "big" words without knowing their meanings.

As I've also written many times before, does every thread have to end
with "Cobrajet"?

spending the time on to prove anything to people who would rather talk
about gas and Jeeps and the Bushmaster.

Don't worry, little man, this is my last post. You bluster and
fluster and play your psycho "Fool on the Hill" game which has yet to
prove a thing, but you are too weak to step up and help put this group
back on track.

It won't be long before there will be nobody left but you and the
other insecure urine-stained monkey petards like hurc and BJ and
66FOURDOOR talking to each other. Strange how similar you all are.

I made a few friends here, it kept me busy and out of trouble during my

When the trolls were lame and not worth weeding through to find the real

Although it could also be one of the more annoying and destructive
events in RAMFM history, I thought it was kind of funny when the guys
over at alt.troll were brought into the group.

It's hard to say.  I'm most interested in the old Fox 5.0 Mustangs, but
what more can be said about them???  Plus, I haven't had a Mustang since

Hey look, I made someone's list!  :)
There are a couple of people not mentioned that I remember and enjoyed.
Sam(uel) was one of them.  THere was also the guy in New York whom I
remember had gotten into a few fights in his days.  I always enjoyed
conversing with him.

I've emailed with Anthony.  Last I heard, he was back in Texas.  I
remember when I first came to RAMFM, I thought David Lyons was the
moderator.  Every post had replies from him.  I enjoyed Dyke's posts.
Wasn't he B.L.Zebub, or something like that too.  What about Emily?

I also miss Patrick.  What I miss was having the time to stay up, BS'ing
with him night after night.  Our lives have evolved and changed over the
last eight or nine years.  The same goes for Anthony too.  But I lived
near enough to Anthony that I could get together with him a few times a
year for races and baseball games (Mariners).

That was crazy time!  For a few years there, I'd stay up 'till 3-4 AM
responding to posts and IMing.  I just couldn't keep that up.  I was
going sleepless trying to fit everything -- family, job, hobbies,
school -- else in.  Doing that now is impossible.  Because on top of
what I had, I've added 5 hours of commuting time and about 8-10 hours
of fitness to my week, plus home projects take up my weekends.  Now,
most times, when I sign on to the NG I don't even have the time to
respond to my own threads.

One of these days we'll meet up again.

You were always a little ahead of me on the clock too.  I also didn't
work the 4/10's, getting up at 4:00 AM like I do now.  I had a lot more
time on my hands those days too.

I hardly ever turn on AIM any more.  Most of the people I chatted with
there don't use it anymore either.

Of course I still go through Albuquerque about once a year... but you
haven't been there for a long time.

Bill S.  He was one of the first people who talked to me.

There was also a guy named Mike Cook back in '97-'98 who helped me
tremendously.  Really nice guy.  Maybe it was Mark.  He had a fast '67
or '68 convertible, w/302, 3.40s and a 4 spd.  We talked cams and
drivetrains at length.  He got his kid a Fox Mustang and did the
Koni/Eibach thing, and was always tearing these cars apart.  He was very
knowledgeable, lived in SoCal with Maybe he's still around.  I don't
know.  Anyone?

I remember manually creating the group on the news server at the ISP I
ran at the time.  It took a while for our upstream feed to carry the
group, but a couple of us were posting messages locally for a few weeks.
During the voting process there were even a few curmudgeons who voted
no because they didn't want to "fragment" the Ford owners.  heh....

Sorry. I just lurk. I'm afraid to post, for fear of having my email address
sucked up by the spammers. And you just never know who's out there...

> How often, on average, do you visit RAMFM?
> 1 Almost daily

I read the newsgroup when I'm depressed, to cheer myself up. I read the
newsgroup when I'm bored, looking for a little fun. I read when I'm happy,
hoping to share the good feelings. I read when my car breaks down, knowing
that many here will know how I feel.

The one exception was after 9/11. For some reason, I couldn't bring myself
back to the community for days on end. My perspectives were all screwed up.
Mustangs, even football, seemed so irrelevant at the time. But RAMFM is
nothing more or less than a microcosm of humanity in general, and there are
a lot of good people here. It's a good "place" to be.

Yeah, my baby got fixed.  I'm back to tooling around in the little red
put-put.  However... not too long after I got it back, someone stole the
back piping that went over the front tire wells while I was working at the
mall.   Ooooo... i was mad... but whatever, I'll get over it.  As long as I
don't catch the people doing it, and they don't key it.... I'll get over it.

At least four years.

> What are your contributions to RAMFM?

Nowadays I mostly get sucked into political discussions.  I have
answered the questions like "How much hp can I get from a pulley swap"
too many times to count.  I let the younger whipper snappers take care
of the monotonous replies.  Besides it makes them feel important and
useful which only lasts for a couple years before they tire of it too.
This is the most important reason why we need new blood here on a
regular basis. ;)

How often, on average, do you visit RAMFM?

6 Every so often. I used to be a HEAVY poster here in the late 1990's.
(about 1200 posts) Grew tired of the constant crap. Jumped ship with CJ
when he started the big block group.

How long have you been visting RAMFM?

1 Years - Since at least 1997. Usenet did some fanagling here or there
around 1996-97. I'm pretty sure I've been in/on this group and the
Explorer group prior to that. 1994 rings a bell.

What WERE your contributions to RAMFM?

1 Often posts new topics/responds to existing topics.
