Is there a way for the novice restorer to touch up or restore the silvering on the dash trim pieces? Over the years it has been worn off from cleaning and age. Does anyone know what color of silver should be used? Thanks in advance. Lee 69 Mach 1 That stuff is chrome plated plastic, that they then put the plastic wood veneer and paint on top of. I had the dash rechromed, it looked fantastic when done. If you want them right, get a pro to do it. THat was a really nice truck until she rearended someone because of the glare shining off the dash.... Signature"Gullible is a misdemeanor - stupid is a felony... clueless gets you committed..." - JG Sorry for the confusion, it is not chrome, it is a silver painted plastic surface inside the instrument cluster. I have taken the entire panel apart and will try to airbrush it back to the way it was. I talked to a local man who does restoration on classic mustangs and this is what he said to do. It will take some time with the masking but relatively simple to do. Thanks again to all that replied. Kate, I seem to remember that Liberty ships were made of concrete and many sank crossing the Atlantic. Hope your dingy fairs better.
