I want nanotech to evolve to the point where nanobots could be used
to crack the air coming into the intake into oxygen and hydrogen
so it could become it's on fuel.  Of course, it might take a big
scoop....

Eh, they'd just get unionized and go on strike someday when you're 200
miles from home.  BTW, you must live in Seattle, if your air is made of

A LOT, however, this is the new nano technology. To make advancements
they must practice assembling molecules, atoms or whatever, into
"things" which will do the task desired. For example... picture this
"car" with some form of scraper or whatever which can travel through
arteries and clear a path for blood flow.... and similar activities.
Perhaps what they spend today may save a grandchild life tomorrow...
It's something to consider......
