Well, our provincial government, in a big
to avoid an major issue this fall during
an election announced that measures would be
taken to reduce auto insurance rates by 15%.
Payments to chiropractors and other (quacks)
practicioners would be cut to reduce the cost
to insurance companies by hundreds of millions
of $ per year. Apparently, medical costs related
to accidents have risen 400% over the last few years.
Well, it is a fact most people are crybabies nowadays,
for every legitimate medical complaint, there are
a dozen minor or imagined ones. Also, insurance fraud
(perpetrated mostly by people living in Toronto who
come from cultures where fraud is endemic) would be cracked
down on in the strongest terms. This is expected to save
almost $100 million in payouts a year.
So what do the insurance leaders say?
"We have been trying for three years to bring some reforms
to the way accidents and car insurance is handled in this
province. The measured reforms proposed by the government
will do much to reduce costs to the industry."
So about that 15%.....
"Well, we can't make that kind of guarantee. All drivers
have to be looked at individually, so rates might come down
in some cases by 10-15%."
Sigh: So, the average Toronto driver pays about $1600
a year, while the average Toronto V8 Mustang driver pays
between $3600 and $5000 a year.
