Indeed. I thought about it for a minute and then just resigned myself
to the fact that "I'm gettin' too old for this s*it." 8-) As soon as
all the hoopla and price gouging subsides, I'll just latch onto a new
GT, throw a supercharger on it, and call it a day. It costs more, but
everything works, there's no rust, and you've even got a warranty for a
few years. 8-)
My first car was a '67 Mustang and they're pretty easy to work on
(except for dealing with the pervasive rust issues that is common these
days), but the parts are becoming rather expensive. This could be an
interesting project for someone with a lot of time on their hands.
Cheers,

Oh no doubt one helluva a project, and probably worth quite a pretty
penny given its rarity. If done right also probably a pretty big hit
on the show circuit as well, but damn its got a long way to go and
will never ever be matching numbers.
Here as of late I am not even getting around to the projects I've got
planned for my newer models, let alone any of my restoration projects.
I've almost resigned myself to the fact that my two current projects
are going to sit until my retirement. My wife has been on me to have
a second detached garage built, or move the projects off to storage so
we can start to use our attached-garage again. Ahh life's little
interruptions.

There's no such thing as a matching numbers '66 Mustang anyway. You can get
a date code correct on the engine/tranny, but that's the closest you could
get to it. There are still a few early 289's out there that are worth
building, even if they have to be sleeved.
The VIN was only on the bucktag, window stamp and both inner fenderskirts.
