That will buff out.... :)

Then again if I was given a GT with that damage I'd take it. that can be
fixed for less than the car's value I'm sure....

Well, as seems to be the rule, lately... the 'news' on this is less
relevant than the reaction to it.

As you see reading the various comments.... I started out thinking "Whatta
Dumbass!", ended up feeling embarrassed for the bulk of the dickwad
commenters.

Did you see the other one, on the guy did the same to his new Ferrari?
Except apparently the car was in the US illegally... somehow got past DHS..
mebbe over the Mexican border?

I agree with you completely.
My first thought was that he was a dumbass too.

Then I reflected the first time I popped the clutch on Shug and was
unprepared for the response.
I'd had the car about three days and I was shifting hard from first to
second going out of  a corner. The tach was around 5k and I didn't have a
clue.
I was MUCH luckier than this guy. I only ended up in the left lane where
opposing traffic should have been - if I hadn't a guardian angel riding
shotgun.
It slowed my a.s down and when I stopped shaking I took another several
months to ease into it and learn what I was doing.

After reading the comments from the guys on the page I was pissed off. What
a rude bunch of immature little sunsabitches.
Naturally, not a one of them has EVER done something stupid. It's obvious
from their posts that they are the epitome of maturity and compassion.

I think it sucks that the guy crashed his car.

Reminds me of when the first SN95 Mustangs came out.  Someone was driving a
brand new one (this happened right in front of us on the freeway), they were
coming onto the freeway on an on ramp, they punched it, lost control, veered
across all three lanes of the freeway, and plowed right into the concrete
barrier dividing the two sides of the freeway.  I don't no, but I would
guess the damage was enough to total that car.

Driving a rear wheel drive trac-loc equipped car with enough power to easily
spin the tires is certainly an acquired skill.  On icy of wet roads it is
much different than dry roads too.

I would suggest anyone doing it for the first time, find a big paved empty
place and get used to it.  My friends and I as teenagers used to compete to
see who could punch it crank the wheel get the car spinning and then have it
stop spinning the most perfectly in between the painted lines of a parking
spot.  It is amazing how predictable the spinning is and how much control
the accelerator pedal actually gives you.  One of my friends '71 Camaro was
a lot better balanced spinner than my '71 Torino, my Torino tended to whip a
lot more than his Camaro.

I wouldn't practice that very much on a good set of new tires though.  It is
a good thing that I had a friend at a tire shop who would give me used "take
offs" for free...

The problem is today cops hassle people who venture out to empty parking
lots to improve their vehicle handling skills.

This is a classic example of people buying a car with too much power for
their driving ability. Over the years, I have seen things like this happen a
number of times. Often, the people driving do not walk away. The real
tragedy is the other people they hurt or kill.
In 1969 I was working evenings more or less as an apprentice with a guy who
knew the finer points of making a performance car run. I was getting a great
education. Some of the local used car lots had performance cars and when
they weren't running right, they were hard to sell. Most of their lot
lizards couldn't deal with them, so they brought the cars to us.
One of the lots brought us a red 1966 GTO. This one had 3 2V carbs but only
the middle, primary carb was working. We fixed the carbs and went clear
through it, distributor, etc. For some reason, we had to buy a fuel block
and make a special bracket to bolt it to the right front corner of the
intake manifold. This was a project I did. When we were done, the car ran
fine, lots of power like a 66 Tri-Power GTO should run.
A couple of months later, I was doing a bit of wrecking yard scrounging,
don't even remember what I was looking for. I happened to glance across a
the engine of a car and found myself staring at the fuel log and bracket I
had built. I stopped and looked at the what was left of the car. It was
totally destroyed. It was red, but you couldn't even tell it was ever a GTO.
I asked the owner of the yard about it, he told me there were two people in
the car, nobody survived. I think his words were
Too much power, too little ability" I have never forgot that.
