Where you at? Ours is this weekend here in Redding, CA where it's
gonna rain as usual... LOL  Of course, for Hot August Nites, it's
always hotter than Hades...

Sure. Work out details as the time gets closer.

I plan to be here for August :0)  Wasn't really ready (me, not the
car) for April, and now trying to plan for the Restomod meet in Reno
in May at the Hilton.

Mine was supposed to be a 6 month project, which extended an added
year, and paint was the biggest holdup. Everything from scheduling to
weather... I kept hearing "next week", "soon", "as soon as the weather
warms/cools/humidity drops" etc. I was starting to wonder if I'd still
be among the living when it got finished, or if it would be in my
estate. I talked to a guy who I got the 3 pt seatbelts from. He and
his son are doing a roadster, and he said he has been trying to get it
done for six years due to all the delays. Made me feel a little
better.

Are you in the immediate area? If so, who is doing your paint? The guy
I originally planned to use here was Art Hild in Central Valley when I
had the 66FB in 2003. Guy has been written up in various auto
magazines for his custom work.

the kr is being done by johnsons auto restoration in reno. i had the
same story as you from the restorer. a 5 month time frame has turned
into 12 months as of next month. i have a clue now why the delay.
i felt the need to assert myself as the unsatisfied customer yesterday
morning. i have been hearing crap like "you go in the paint booth next"
since about last november. it is so cold in the winter here i didnt care
if the thing was finished or not in the moddle of the winter as i
wouldnt drive it then anyway so i didnt mind being bullshitted.
now that spring is here my attitude is different.
the talk of the shop was the price that the kr went for at barrett
jackson last spring. the shop owner was somewhat impressed that he has
an actual kr in his shop. i guess it brought him a little attention
around town.
after yesterdays conversation i came away with the feeling that with the
rarity and value of the thing, along with the scrutiny his finished
project will attract, he is finding it a bit intimidating. that is my
gut feeling anyway....
the wifes '66 i'm going to try to do that totally by myself. i have
bought a few resto books and have started to tool up for the project in
the past few weeks.
enough of that.....
to answer your question....i live in south reno.
redding is where i graduated junior college the first time.
both the kr and the '66 came from somewhere between redding and eureka, ca.
i'm also from that same area.

Good reason not to have it painted here since you live there :0)

When all was said and done, I wanted copies of all receipts "for my
car's history book", which I do have with every receipt for every
part, etc from the time I bought the car, plus one I found under the
console plate... When I looked at the dates, I had proof that the car
had set for nearly a year before the majority of the work was begun.
Not that it did me any good at that point.

I would hazard a guess that neither car is going to be ready for the
Reno Restomod show at the Hilton in May.  But, maybe next year? I'm
looking at going this year but may hold off until next in order to
finish a couple of projects with the 65. Still working on getting the
wiring switched for the plugs on the intermittent wipers, it now looks
like I may need to replace the speedo cable. :0(

Where I live, within a couple of blocks we have my 65 FB, a Shelby
'vert, a 67 Cougar, a roadster, a 55 Chev. And those are just the ones
which have been pulled out of the garages.

Redding is my dad's ancestral home (since around 1840). I graduated
from Shasta C after I retired. Had to add another degree.
