I had a 302 and a 4 speed in my 1973 Mustang Mach 1 but I'm looking
for a new engine and figured I might as well get a new transmission
while I'm replacing everything. I'm looking for a 302, 351, cobra jet,
boss, 429, anything thatll fit really. Does anyone know where I can
find somethig not too expensive? Either an engine or a transmission or
both? Any help would be appreciated. I'm trying to keep the price
under 1000 for the engine and under 800 for the tranny. Thanks
Brian

I'd look on ebay. Not just for engines and trannies, but for old '70's Fords
that have the same drivetrain you're looking for.
I'm putting new life into a 72 mach 1.
I took in a 351C out of my Ranchero to get it re-bored and rebuilt and the
shop owner said he had a 351C block that had never been bored before so I
bought it from him.
I also got an old FMX rebuilt w. shift kit and torque converer for only
$500.
