Well, it finally hit Canadian network news, despite the Canadian auto
industry using blackmail tactics (you say this, we'll pull
advertising) to stop it. Buying a car in Canada is WAY more expensive
than the U.S. and our dollar's value difference is now only 5%. When
people in the U.S. were paying $24,000 discounted for 2004 Mach-1
Mustangs, mine cost $39,000 up here.
A Mustang GT in Canada (V8) lists at $38,000. That's about $47,000
once taxes and other "penalties" are paid. A firm in Toronto ( a
Buffalo dealer) now sells cars here, from Buffalo. The price
difference? As much as $10,000 landed here! They deal mostly in
sports cars, but the same effect is seen here on most cars, including
Japanese imports.

Your models may require additional government standards regarding cold
climate use, thus manufacturers must conduct extensive extra testing
which drives up the price per vehicle. Just as our military takes a
Radio Shack 2 way radio that costs $49.95, and due to all the testing
required to make sure it will function in all the environments the
military may expose it to, they pay $689.73 each. How much it actually
takes to stick it in a refridgerator for 30 minutes, or in an oven set
at 140* for 30 minutes, I don't know. But the contract suppliers do.
LOL :0)
