If it's the same as the shifter on the T10 tranny, there's a small
pressed in
roll pin that holds the "T" to the shaft.
It shouldn't be that hard if you have the right sized pin punch.

Yes, I moved the T10 between 3 different cars and kept the stock
shifter
with the "T" lockout each time.

Thanks for your reply - I have looked at my assembly closer and there is
no roll pin. It appears there is just a cable that is swaged or soldered to
the "T" handle on one end and the interlock protrusion on the other end.
Someone told me that my trans is not a T10 but a "toploader". Maybe that is
the difference. It is still quite difficult to understand how this could
come apart much less ever be reassembled.
Any thoughts anyone?

Not sure if we are talking about the same thing, but, using soapy
water you can stretch the boot over the tee reverse lockout. The
old one may tear if it is brittle, but a new one will stretch
over it.
