Have a 1995 F-150 XLT,w/dual tanks.My problem is,the sidetank stopped
working months ago, now my reartank is putting gas into the sidetank and my
motor pings and clatters all the time, anytime I'm on the gas and gas
mileage has gone to 85 mi. per tank full. I talked to a friend that worked
for Ford motor co. for four years, say's Ford issued a recall on this years
truck, and Ford won't fix it unless you are, either/first owner and or have
a printed notice.Any ideas would be appreciative?
Thank'Jeff

I just had a 95 F150 that the rear tank was filling the front tank & it was
filling the return lines & charcoal canister. There is a valve inside of
both of the electric fuel pumps, one in the rear tank & one in the front
tank. The little valve is suppose to shut off the return of fuel to the tank
that is not supplying fuel to the engine. I replace the front fuel pump
(replace the fuel module assy in the tank that is receiving the gas) & it
took care of all of the problem. As far as I could tell you can't just
replace the valve, you have to replace the complete fuel module which
includes the pump. Should also take care of the front tank not working also.
It took me about 1 1/2 hrs. to do this. Shane

There was a Ford recall for this problem.
Check with a dealer and see if they will still fix it.
