'71 f100 A/C question

I found a decent, fixer upper, underdash condenser/blower duct a/c unit from
a '72 in the local U-Pick-It. My '71 originally had a/c but this part was
missing. I wasn't planning on reinstalling an a/c system in the near future,
but I thought I'd grab it tomorrow when I go back. Is it worth paying for it
or do they make this part reproduction? I don't see them that often and when
I do they're usually smashed up by some a.s trying to get a fuse out before
I got there. Are they hard to find?

Are you talking about the big factory heater/AC combo unit? They're not
that rare, really. I've got three of them in the shop right now.
Normally the grilles across the front have broken fins, so if you find
one with the front of the case in good shape they're probably worth
grabbing, since they aren't being reproduced. Someone who's doing a
restoration would love to get a good one, but generally speaking, for
someone just building a nice street truck, most won't want anything that
large anymore. You can buy custom kits for this generation of truck with
components that are much smaller and more efficient anyway.

Good advice. I'll leave it. I installed your wiper delay mod last week.
Excellent, I like it.
