I am just curious, but why would changing the fuel filter gain any
mileage?
I'm not trying to make the new Ranger owner feel bad, but I get
15.2 in my 94 F150 with 185,000 miles in city driving (302).

While the fuel filter is disconnected during replacement, you do get better
mileage.
