1999 Ford Ranger 2wd somewhat cracked Belt for all functions, is that
normal? This belt is about 5/8th of an inch wide 1/8th inch thick and runs
everything. it seems cracked in hundreds of places but am not sure if that
is normal. I have never seen such a belt.

can anyone offer a suggestion?

Surpentine belts crack. That itself is not an indication of needed
change. A new belt should have no cracks of course. A belt with 15K on
it will have several small cracks. There's a standard of so many cracks
per inch that can be used as a guide of serviceability. Google it  if
interested. I'd be more inclined to go by time and mileage primarily.
If it's cracked and you're asking and have not changed it recently,
then it's time to do so. Put the old one in the back for emergencies.

About 3 cracks per inch is a good rule of thumb.

Replace it.

First Thanks for the multiple inputs, I should replace it and keep this one
as emergency spare as suggested .
Should I get the belt from Napa or Ford? Napa is real close in the country
side Ford is farther and usually more expensive here. Anyone evaluate the
differences? Tonight being sunday the 24th, I just read your responses,
because my computer crapped out... I will buy it tomorrow.

I've always had good luck with NAPA stuff.

Ford parts will be just as good, but probably cost you more.

Call 'em first and see.

I have had better luck with Ford OEM and the price was less than NAPA or
Canadian Tire.
