A few days ago I started getting a grind _some_ of the times that I
shifted into reverse. Today, it has become nearly impossible to shift
into 1st or 2nd gears. I need a quick fix, however, as I am planning
on a long drive Tuesday. What do I do??

Standard trans I assume? Sounds like your clutch isn't fully
disengaging. Maybe a bad master or slave clutch cylinder. Bummer if it's
the slave since you have to pull the trans to get to it. Clutch pedal
feel different that it used to?

Check the fluid clutch master cylinder first.

Bingo! ;-)
The fluid reservoir is right next to the brake fluid reservoir and is
commonly overlooked...
