Does anybody know how to retrieve the trouble codes from an EEC-V
computer without the overpriced codereader?

a real scan tool works very well

ifr you don't want to shell out for one, you have no business trying to
'read codes'

That's your opinion. I wasn't looking for opinions, just information.

Thank you. Guess Ford got tired of people accessing the codes without
bringing the vehilcle into the dealership, at $99 a pop.

Take it to an auto parts place, like Autozone.  They will probably let you
borrow a scan tool to check the codes.  I bought my scan tool for around
$99.

It you have a brake problem, a normal scan tool will not read it, and the
auto parts places don't normally carry one.

The ABS light is one, but the brakes work fine. The rear drums were
out of adjustment, due to a frozen emergency brake cable.
