97 Explorer Left Head Lamp does not work

Thanks for all repleys in advance. I have a 97 Explorer and the left
head lamp will not come on when you have the low beams on (the high
beams however work). I have replaced the lamp and that didnt solve
the problem. Are their any other suggestions as to what I could
check. I have read about the headlamp relay and the switch, I would
assume the switch could be a problem but not forsure about relay. Is
their any way to check either of these or should I just go ahead and
replace them to see what happens. I would assume it could be costly
if I had to take it to Ford to go through and trouble shoot it.

Lamp Out Module (LOM). I'm assuming you have an Eddie Bauer or Limited with
the Message Center in the center console.

Yes it is an Eddie Bauer and it is giving the warning about the light.
I talked to a few more people and was told that their was no relays
for the light and it wouldnt be the switch since the passenger side
light works properly. So I would assume now that it is a wire problem
and was thinking that it would be between the point where the lights
conect together (if they are) and the light itself. Would you happen
to know if both lights come off one wire and where that spot is likely
to be. I was also thinking about cutting the low beam wire from the
drivers side light and splicing it in with the other light. Any
suggestions here or other options.

I'd start by replacing the LOM before splicing the line. I had the same
problem a few years ago on my 97 Eddie Bauer. Turns out a solder joint
failed within the LOM. By the way, with the LOM disconnected, no exterior
lights operated. Found that out a few months later when I had no exterior
lights - wire harness not properly connected at installation at garage. If
you want to give it a try, the LOM is under the message center. Pull up and
remove the message center (start pulling up near the buttons, then pull up
near the dash). Once you disconnect the message center, I think you can
remove the cupholders. The LOM is a small black plastic box located close
to where the message center button were and has a wire harness connected in
the front, towards the engine. You can test if you have the right module by
disconnecting the harness and turning on your lights - if you have no
exterior lights - you found the module.
