I have a loose wheel bearing on the left front of my f-250 4x4.  My mechanic
says the individual wheel bearings cannot be replaced but instead the entire
hub assembly must be replaced for over $300!  This doesn't make sense to me.
Anyone else have any experience with this sort of problem?

I'm sorry it is a 2000 model.

Superdutys use a unitized hub assembly. For a little more money you can
probably convert to regular hubs. I think there are some outfits, Warn, etc
that have conversion kits.
